Instant vs Storage Water Heater Empty
PostSubject: Instant vs Storage Water Heater   Instant vs Storage Water Heater I_icon_minitimeWed Feb 17, 2010 7:25 pm

Salam.

I plan to install an electric/solar storage water heater in my Nukilan house. But I suspected the house is not equipped with the necessary piping lines for such centralized water heater system, leaving the only but unfavorable option which requires walls hacking, new pipe lines and more money outflow etc etc

Though instant type is the cheaper alternative, I do not want the bathroom to be crowded with many shower heads as one is already too many. Possible installation would be to just pull out the existing shower outlet, cover-up the hole and replaced by the mediocre look of the typical hand held shower unit. Not to mention the hose to be snaking on the wall. But I notice Nukilan's 3 bathrooms are already fitted with hot shower electric socket. I sincerely hope that it will open the next possibility.

I wish to learn if any of us here have anything to share. Thanks.

PostSubject: Re: Instant vs Storage Water Heater   Instant vs Storage Water Heater I_icon_minitimeWed Feb 24, 2010 8:56 am

btw, apparently only the master bathroom is storage-water-heater ready.
maknanya kena beli storage unit dan get the plumber to pasang atas siling.

Bilik air yang lain2 tu memang kena pakai instant type.

Please share if u have any idea on the appropriate size of the storage units & the price.

Thanks.

aku keje kat Panasonic.

Frankly Kyra, I pun tak pernah tgk benda2 pelik ni.

mungkin macam ni kot - JOVEN atau ALPHA

for sure, lepas ni bil air & api melambung2 tinggi. maklumlah, nak pakai air, kena pakai api sekali. dgn water pump tu lak, lagi la banyak air keluar.

Camna bro? Dah pasang water heater dah? Memang confirm ke tak boleh nak buat centralise system unless nak kena hack sana-sini?

Tak payah nak pening pening kepala nak hack nak buh additional piping sana sini. Letak jer silent Water Heater + Booster Pump. Korang mandi tengah tengah malam pun tak de ler bunyi bising macam Water Heater yg banyak kat pasaran tuh. Tambah uplak ia guna Low Voltage dan tak de ler mahal sangat. Sekali pasang kalau tak silap RM650.00 jer he he.

bro thanks. isu central hot water storage/pipe dah settle sebab hanya bilik air master bathroom je yg equipped dgn system tu. yg lain2 tu kena pakai instant type. tapi nampak semak kalau ada dua kepala shower, satu existing, satu lagi hot shower. Pernah gak tanya sorang plumber. dia kata memang itu je option yg ada dua kalau nak maintain hot & cold shower. anyway, it's a small matter.

pasal silent pump tu, bilik2 air 2 & 3 kat tingkat atas rasanya tak perlu water heater yg jenis pump sebab central pump yg dlm siling tu dah cukup untuk bagi powerful water pressure. so powerful I can guarantee. Satu je yg slack - bunyi dia agak obvious bila activated. harapnya lama2 terbiasa dgn bunyi tu. bilik air bawah pun tak perlu pump type sebab natural gravity pressure.

bro,

Yang pasal 2 kepala shower tu rasanya boleh maintain satu je yang heater punya cuma kena sacrifice le kepala paip yg I&P kasi (kasi cabut utk jadi source to the instant water heater). Kalau pakai air sejuk mungkin boleh adjust je temp kat water heater tuh.

tau tu. tapi rasanya kena alihkan water source tu masuk inlet water heater then kena alirkan outlet ke existing kepala shower.
nampak gaya kena hack wall jugak sebab kena potong paip dalam dinding utk buat bypass.
Satu lagi, normal instant heater tu bukan boleh guna sebarang outlet hose atau kepala shower. Spec dia khusus utk certain diameter of pipe. kalau diameter besar macam normal paip, it may not function.

thanks for the thought.

Kalau macam tu memang susah bro. Kepala paip yang I&P kasi tu yang kena remove, ganti ngan adaptor going to the water heater. Then you only left with water heater punya kepala paip. Tak payah hacking rasanya.

Salam semua.. Pasal storage heater tank tu, mana nak dapatkan power supply ek..? Since currently existing power point yg available kat atas siling tu dah di pakai utk water pump.. Takkan nak share point kot.. Water pump tu pun dah consume around 10amp plus storage heater yg definitely kene pakai 15amp punya supply... Mau terbakar connector tu karang...

Problem solved... Currently water pump is using 13 Amp supply ( located behind water tank ), while water heater got another supply ( 15 Amp ) which is located juz above the master bedroom. Since water heater is preferably installed near the water tank ( bcoz it has concrete ground ), we have to use longer wire to connect it to the socket..

Dah pasang.. Not sure wheather it's cheap or not.. but u can browse around to check d price.. Mine is joven storage heater tank 35 litres horizontal type. Harga RM520. Installation RM220, using PVC pipe. But make sure it is higher grade PVC ( class 7 )...U can opted for copper pipe type but it will cost u more. Another option, u can install tat water heater near to the copper pipe provided by i&p . So, takyah la guna copper pipe panjang sangat. Tapi problemnya xder concrete ground dekat situ, takut kalau heater tank tu terjatuh jer la... Honestly, for installation better u cari org lain sbb i think it's quite expensive. Another thing, kalau u nak carik org yg nak pasang tu, better make sure he'll be responsible if anything goes wrong with the water heater. Thermal fuse easily meletup kalau initial start up tak betul.. thermal fuse unfortunately tak cover dlm warranty sbb dia normally meletup sbb installation + start up tak betul... For storage capacity plak, 25 litres pun dah ok sbb u xyah tunggu lama sgt utk panaskan air tu... wallahualam...

Just to share. I pun ari sabtu lepas gi survey kat atas bumbung utk check camne nak buat installation tank. Memang macam che det cakap kalau for long term it is best letak tank atas concrete atas bilik no. 3 and run long copper sampai master bedroom ceiling. Reasonnya sebab takde concrete slab kat atas master bedroom ceiling.

Selain dari takut tank berisiko utk jatuh dari bumbung master bedroom, kalau nak maintain connection PVC pipe in the future etc. boleh menyebabkan leakage kat ceiling master bedroom (kalau dah pindah masuk umah nanti susah nak plaster dan cat balik). Cuma cost of copper pipe yang panjang tu kena la tambah extra RM200-300 for installation of this tank water heater. On the other hand kalau ada leaking kat pipe joint from water heater tank kalau positionnya atas slab, takde le basah merebak ke atas siling.

Juz have my piping installation changed due to wrong tapping from water tank by previous contractor. Apparently kalau kita wrongly tapped water dari water tank ke storage heater tank, water pump will be continuosly running and escalated water in the water tank...and caused water dlm water tank jadi panas.. Long run plak, water pump akan terbakar.. No wonder without pasang water heater pun, air jadi panas semacam jer.. hehe..Last2 terpaksa panggil Sutigno tolong re-do d piping and subsequently terus mintak dia tukar pvc pipe ke copper pipe.. iyela, alang2 dia dah panjat tu, terus la mintak dia buatkan.. much more cheaper compare to other plumber.. tapi risikonya kalau new heater tank installation tu, pastikan Sutigno tu aware on d safety part of the heater la.. otherwise kalau faulty kat storage water heater tu, payah la pulak...

Dear Che Det , Zufik et.al

Thanks for sharing your experiences. Nak tanya sikit; perlu ke pasang water heater ni? Bukan apa; sebab kat sini cuaca memang panas eg 45Degree (sekarang ni); so tak pernah lah nak pakai water heater. Kat Msia; pagi2 pun sejuk ke ?

Sebab dari apa yang faham dari your experiences; it seems quite complicated jugak pasal installation of this water heater ni. kalau perlu... nampaknya saya kena buat budget untuk water heater ni pulak.

Thanks

che det/zulfik/rozek, terima kasih byk2 atas maklumat. memang sgt berguna.

zainal, belum cuba belum tahu. kalau dah biasa pakai water heater, tengah hari panas terik pun, ada yg masih nak mandi air panas.
kalau yg belum biasa, kena pikir masak2 sebelum jadi terbiasa. macam pakai aircond la jugak.... Very Happy

kat malaysia pagi2 boleh tahan sejuk gak. tambah pulak nukilan ni bersiling tinggi & dinding tebal, so rumah kurang panas. lagi pun nukilan ni dah water heater ready n we've already paid for it. rugi kalau tak gunakan sepenuhnya.

Tak wajib dan tak berdosa kalau tak pasang. Tapi kalau tido bila aircond bangun pagi lagi best kalau pakai water heater. Kalau balik lewat keje pun sedap sket nak mandi air panas....

tips untuk jangan bagi bilik sejuk sgt & bil tak melambung bila pakai aircond. On kipas & on aircond with timer. 1-2 hrs dah cukup utk sejukkan bilik. bila aircond stops, kipas terus berkerja. masa tu kita dah tak kisah sejuk/panas sbb kita dah berlayar. So bila bangun pagi, mandi air suam pun ok.

kalau terjaga sbb kepanasan (esp musim panas), repeat procedures. selamat beramal Wink
